Mr. Cvetko Nikolic
Cvetko Nikolic (Nick) was born in Pzarvac, Serbia on April 11, 1937. He attended local grade schools and graduated high school in his native country. After high school Nick worked as a blacksmith before coming to the United States in 1961 at the age of 24.
His father migrated to the United States and settled in the Cleveland, Ohio area
during World War II. At the urging of his father, Nick decided to join him in Cleveland
and left behind two brothers and many family members in Serbia.
He worked in machine shops fixing large pieces of equipment in the Cleveland area and eventually in Chicago. After his retirement, he decided to relocate to Southern Illinois to be near his children.
Nick is the proud father of four children, two boys and two girls, as well as a grandfather of four. He enjoys all sports, but especially baseball. “I root for the Cubs,” he commented, when asked about his favorite team.
He is also an avid soccer fan and has played professionally. In Serbia he played for the Prltar team and in the U.S. the Kagorga team. While living in Chicago he was a member of a Ukrainian bowling league, winning many awards including a first place trophy during a tournament.
Nick loves to travel including his favorite locations: Florida, Wisconsin, Canada, and Mexico. He returned several times to Serbia to visit his family.
About living at Autumn Ridge Nick commented, “I love living here; it’s a nice place with nice people. I could spend all my life here, if nobody chases me out!”
